People think they know a thing or two about the pit bull's fighting history, some of what they know are indeed facts but other information consists of nothing but myths that have been altered by the media trying to make the pit bull look dangerous and ferocious. Throughout history the pit bull has been known as a fighting dog. However, when pit bulls first came to this country in the 1800's they were known as farmer dogs, they guarded homes of people's gaining the trust of people. As time went by, bad people started to abuse these dogs by putting them into brutal fights against each other. The checked past of pit bulls combined with the myths that are perpetrated by people who are scared of the breed is combining to put the future of this breed into doubt. This is unfortunate because despite their history of fighting in the ring, the pit bull is actually a very good family dog.

Now there have been new forms of dog fights, and their attempts to making these dogs distressful and fearful is horrific. According to pitbulltopics.wordpress.com says, "So apparently there is this new form of cruelty to Pit Bull called "Trunking" . This is when two pit bulls are locked in the trunk of a car to fight to the death while someone drives them around and just turns the radio up so loud that no one can hear the dogs fight." What this quote shows is that people don't care about these dogs. And for what we know there could be other types of cruelty through the world harming the pit bulls.
The pit bull might have a bad history behind them, but it does not mean they have to be stereotyped by saying all dogs are dangerous and that they are all fighting dogs.
According to petfinder.com, "Pit Bulls are very eager to please people. A Pit Bull will do almost anything his favorite people ask him, just to hear their praise. These dogs crave our attention and approval, and are very social with humans." These quote shows that all pit bulls are easy to be manipulated. But if you treat them right the way very dog should be treated then there is so reason why people should be afraid of this breed. Even when good trained dogs get in a dangerous situation with their loyal owner they will do all that it takes to protect them.
